Twenty-One Questions to God

More than several Black [Christians] have told me that I have "lost my way" and that I should stay away from [some] Black churches because they do not send the right message of the Word. I guess. It's sort of like the call girl telling me how trashy the street hooker is. -Christopher Dickson II

Dear God,

My name is Christopher. I used to be a serious follower of you for the first eighteen years of my life. I know for a fact that you will not get this letter, but I am still compelled to give it a try.

1. First and foremost, where were you? The Holocaust. The Plague. The Inquisition. The Haiti earthquake. The Tsunami. Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Slavery. The raping of Africa. The abuse of women throughout civilization. World hunger and disease. The Rwanda Genocide. The Armenian Genocide. All the ruthless rule of notorious monarchs and dictators.

2. Am I to assume that you created us on the condition that suffering is required?

3. If we are created in your image, why are we so flawed?

4. If you wrote the Bible or wrote the Bible through a human messenger, why have men historically selected which books were going to be in it? I would love to read The Gospel According to Judas or Mary Magdalene. The Apocrypha didn't make the cut either. There seems to be a male-centric vibe to the whole book.

5. Can I assume that you are aware that the story of a savior or messiah having twelve disciples who performed miracles and would die and be resurrected is not an original Christian story?

6. Are you aware that many of your current messengers are not humble servants of your Word? You should see them God. They have these expensive, luxurious cars with expensive suits and jewelry. And some try to get me to follow with insincere logic. I should join as a way of "securing" my spot in heaven. That mentality is just buying property in heaven rather than truly following your word. Seems like a business proposition more than anything to me.

7. Did you really have to do that to Job just to prove a point to the devil? Which leads me to...

8. You are God, and you created what became the devil. Why don't you just smite the devil already?

9. You don't think it is at least mildly convenient for Christian mythology to include a savior that has already died for our sins? This means that we don't have to worry about sinning because we can always wipe them away with prayer. Also, you are not on the hook for returning to us because the Savior already did that.

10. Did you mean for people to treat the Bible as a menu, in which people can pick and choose what they want to follow?

11. Is my mind making up the fact that so many [Black] gospel singers are fat?

12. Why does the Old Testament set the precedent of it being ok to slaughter in the name of God and religion? I think a discussion would be better, but that's just me.

13. Why did you let Abraham get away with impregnating Hagar and then banishing her and his illegitimate son? That led to Islam and subsequent fighting between Christians, Muslims, and Jews. Surely you foresaw this, right?

14. Is Revelations really a harbinger of things to come? Or is really political propaganda written by the exiled John of Patmos aimed at covertly condemning the Roman Empire?

15. Could you really blame people for not believing in you if all they have to go on is faith and nothing tangible to reality?

16. If you supposedly exist and operate on a level that cannot be understood by humans, how could humans possibly know you exist?

17. Do you really support the Vatican? Their role in the Inquisition. Their proclaiming to be representative of you. Their consent to the slave trade. Their molestation issues with their priests. Their covert influence in Italian politics. Their massive riches despite your son condemning rich people.

18. Why do you let so many people use your name to put themselves in a good light with people, only for them to live another life in reality?

19. When a football player scores a touchdown and kneels to pray, is it really that you blessed that player and cursed the defense?

20. What was the point of creating us in the first place? I'm just wondering.

21. Where are you? If you are out there somewhere, just know that I am here on call, waiting for you to arrive and convince me that you were serious about our relationship from the first eighteen years of my life. If not, I wish you all the best, if you exist, of course...

Sincerely,

Christopher Dickson II

  2. I need to tell you that I read "Will the Strong Black Women Please Stand Up" and commented a full 3 paragraphs only to have it lost. Not happy, but great read! I will have to read it again to remember my comments as you know, my brother, that this was ALL me. LOL

21 questions, huh? Is that all? You are a darn fool for some of these, but there are many we all want to know, but for some Godly reason are afraid of asking (aloud). If you receive a response from any being it's going to be an opinion, but as always, you amaze us.

A book Sir Christoper. A book should be in the works. A book of your blogs. Place it on Amazon or Walmart and I will purchase.
